About

Dr. Douglass double-majored at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Biology. He obtained his medical degree from the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University.

He completed his Internship and Residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he was awarded the Chief Resident Research Award from the Orthopedic Surgery Department.

Dr. Douglass completed a Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship at Stanford University, Departments of Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Douglass is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and holds a subspecialty certificate in Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of both premier hand surgery societies: the American Association for Surgery of the Hand (AAHS) and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).

Dr. Douglass treats any condition of the hand and wrist in adults and children, including complex trauma, arthritis, tendon and nerve injuries, ligament injuries and sports injuries. He is an expert in endoscopic carpal tunnel release, performing hundreds of that type of surgery alone every year.

In addition, Dr. Douglass performs hundreds of distal radius and wrist fractures every year and is at the cutting edge of the minimally invasive treatment of fractures of the wrist, hand and fingers. Dr. Douglass is also an expert in wrist arthroscopy, including ligament repairs.

He receives referrals from other orthopedic surgeons to take care of the most complex conditions of the elbow, hand, wrist and fingers with treatments including:

  • Complex distal radius fractures
  • Forearm and elbow fractures
  • Non-unions and mal-unions
  • Proximal Interphalangeal joint (PIP) Hemi-hamate arthroplasty
  • Peripheral nerve repairs and reconstructions
  • Tendon repair
  • Complex arthritic conditions of the wrist and fingers
  • Finger joint replacement
  • Thumb CMC (basal joint) arthroplasty

Since joining White Plains Hospital after a stint in private practice in Connecticut, Dr. Douglass has been regularly featured in Westchester Magazine and New York Magazine.
